Goat Island was the former name of Chevron Island. Originally having a cattle farm on it. Goats were farmed on the island in quite large numbers. Chevron Island is a natural island and the gotas were farmer to help keep the vegetation from taking over.

History of Labrador Gold Coast

The name for Labrador was thought to have come from the area in Canada called Labrador Peninsula which was a large coastal fishery.

 

Labrador House was built in 1883 facing Marine Parade as a holiday home with views to the broadwater and South Stradbroke Island. It was one of the first large homes, built by Francis Augusta Lousia Thorn. It sat on 2 acres (0.0081 km2) of land. In 1923 Jim (James) Cavill owned the home and thought to re-develop it.

History of Helensvale

Arthur Robinson and Ernest White developed a sugar plantation in 1870. Helena was the name of Ernest Whites young sister. They decided to name the plantation after her.

It became a local name in 1979 on the 31st of March and is on the Queensland Place names Board. The suburb “Helensvale” was defined in 2003

Helensvale had its first people in the 1980’s with a large shopping centre and both secondary and primary schools. Additionally golf courses and the bowls and parks were developed.

 

Helensvale was built on the edge of the hinterland and the Gold Coast itself.

Bathroom renovation before and after Gold coast.

We just recently finished a renovation and design of a bathroom in Mudgeeraba. We have created a post below of the bathroom renovation before and after. Some of the tasks involved included:

  • Tile selection
  • Shower selection
  • Vanity
  • Taps
  • Mirrors
  • Tilers
  • Plumbers
  • Electricians
  • Builder.

Our builder met with the client for the initial quote. This was followed up, once client was happy with qoute, with a meeting at the tilers to select tiles, showers,taps and toilets and basins.

The vanity cabinets were chosen from a different supplier.

Overall the design, selection, gutting and renovating of the bathroom took about 3 weeks.

Once client had confirmed the quote, it was all systems go.

The old tiles were removed along with the old shower and toilets.

A rubbish skip was supplied for all the broken pieces and old vanities and shower pieces.

A vacuum cleaner was used to keep the dust down and plastic was laid throughout the house and bathroom.

The floor and walls were prepared for the waterproofing to be done.

We thought we would post an article on our latest bathroom renovations up at Mudgereeba. This is a great bathroom design and some unique themed tiles were added in to finish this off. We will have some professional shots of this along with a video very shortly.
